Interesting facts about Hollywood beauty, Gene Tierney (November 19th, 1920-November 6, 1991).
She spoke fluent French. She went to school in Switzerland where she learned the language.

She was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Ellen Berent Harland in the 1945 film, Leave Her to Heaven.
The award went to Joan Crawford for Mildred Pierce.
Tierney has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6125 Hollywood Boulevard.
Gene was married twice - first to Oleg Cassini (fashion designer) from 1941-1952. She also married oil baron, W. Howard Lee (ex-husband of Hedy Lamarr). They were married from 1960 until his death in 1981.

They had two daughters - Christina (Tina) and Antoinette Daria (Daria).

In 1943, when she was pregnant with Daria, Gene contracted the German Measles. Daria was born prematurely and needed a full blood transfusion. Daria was deaf, partially blind and was mentally disabled.
Both daughters have passed away.
Daria died in 2010, aged 66 years old.
Tina died this year of ovarian cancer, aged 63 years old.
Gene had manic depression and spent some time in a mental health facility.
Her depression was so severe that she had 27 shock treatments.
She said that the shock treatments caused her to lose some of memory.
When she first heard her voice when she was on the big screen, she said her voice sounded like Minnie Mouse.
She smoked in the belief that it would deepen her voice. She died in 1991 from emphysema.
