Over the years, the strong women in my life have always shared their words of wisdom with me. I'm grateful for this because as I've grown older, their words seem to have more meaning.
I thought I would ask some celebrity mothers, what motherly advice have the women in their lives have shared with them?
Jessica Rowe
The best piece of advice from my mum was, "stop looking at yourself in the mirror and get busy doing something!"
Jess has been busy for years! She's a mother of two, television host, author, cat lover, and a crap housewife (a self-confessed crap housewife). In her latest book, she delves into the reality of not being Nigella Lawson in the kitchen (so relatable for me) and just not being the 'perfect housewife' but embracing it instead.
Diary of a Crap Housewife, is funny and honest. It's available in all bookstores now or online at Booktopia.

Alison Brahe-Daddo
I must confess, I wanted to be Alison when I was a teenager. She was everything I wanted to be, she was beautiful and a Dolly Magazine cover girl. If you were an Australian teenage girl in the early 90s, you would understand my excitement to have Alison participating on my blog!
Alison is married to actor Cameron Daddo and they share three beautiful grown-up children together.
She is also a patron of Rize Up Australia, a support and advocacy group who do incredible work with domestic abuse survivors.
The best advice Alison's mother gave her is, "when your child brings home their loved one, find something you like about them because you will build a wedge between you and your child if you only pick out the negative."
That is something very important for parents to take note of when their children are growing up. Something I will remember.

Kate Ceberano
Singer/songwriter Kate Ceberano's grandma, Kathleen Joyce, told her, "a little bit of what you fancy does you good".
What a beautiful way to look at life!
I fancy listening to Kate's new album with Paul Grabowsky. It's called Tryst and it is a collection of love song and reinterpretations of some of the great love songs from the past 50 years.

Shanna Moakler
Shanna's mother, Gail Moakler, told her, "reach for the stars, the world is yours!"
Shanna is a mother of three, a model, an actress, a reality television star, Miss USA 1995, an activist and she has her own line of makeup called, Smoak Cosmetics.
She has fulfilled many of her goals in life with the love and support from her mother.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers, grandmothers and mother figures around the world, past and present.
